Syncing & Trips

After a trip, connect to the Sway Breeze with the app to sync your data.

  1. Connect your phone to the Breeze (via WiFi as usual)
  2. Open the Sway app — it will detect new trip data automatically
  3. The app downloads the trip data and uploads it to the Sway cloud

Uploading to the cloud happens automatically once the app has an internet connection (via 4G or another WiFi network). So a typical flow is:

  1. Sail → Breeze logs everything
  2. Back at dock → connect to Breeze → app syncs the data
  3. Drive home → app uploads in the background over 4G

All synced trips appear in the Explore and You tab. Tap a trip to see:

  • Route on the map
  • Speed, wind, and instrument data over time
  • Distance, duration, and max speed

If you want, you can add additional details to the trip.

  1. Add photo’s
  2. Write a story / log entry
  3. Add crew

Stories can be shared via a link or posted to your Sway profile.

Our AI analyses all your raw data from your NMEA network to generate a trip automatically. We detect when you start sailing, or when you get back in port.

Sometimes it happens, that a trip is split because of waiting times at bridges / locks. Or a synchronization issue. If you go to edit your trip, then you can press the Combine stories button to merge the trips.

If no trips show up after syncing, check the following:

  • Did the boat actually move? Sway only generates a trip when movement is detected — no trips are created when the boat is stationary
  • Check for GPS or time warnings — open the app while connected to the Breeze and go to the Breeze screen. If there are any GPS or time warnings shown, the Breeze could not record a valid trip
