Requirements
Required
Section titled “Required”Without a GPS source, Sway Breeze cannot register positions or track trips. The more instruments on your NMEA 2000 network, the richer the data available in the app.
GPS connection
Section titled “GPS connection”In many cases, a GPS receiver is already built into your chartplotter or AIS receiver. A dedicated GPS receiver works just as well.
- If your GPS is connected to the NMEA 2000 network, you can connect Sway Breeze directly using a T-connector
- If you are using a different network type, you may need an adapter cable — we offer a SeaTalkNG adapter cable on our website. If you are ordering a Sway Breeze, you can select the SeaTalkNG option at checkout to have it shipped together with your order
- For other systems, check with your local marine electronics store for the correct cable
If you are using a converter from an older network (such as NMEA 0183), make sure GPS data is shared on the NMEA 2000 network. Sway Breeze requires at minimum position, time, and date to function — these correspond to PGN 126992 or PGN 129029.
Recommended (optional)
Section titled “Recommended (optional)”Having these instruments on your NMEA 2000 network will give you more data in the app:
- Wind instruments (speed & angle)
- Log / speed sensor
- Compass / heading sensor
- Depth sounder
