AIS receiver not sharing GPS over NMEA 2000
Some AIS receivers do not output GPS/GNSS data over NMEA 2000 by default. If Sway Breeze shows no GPS position while your AIS receiver is the only GPS source on the network, this may be the cause.
em-trak B350 / B360
Section titled “em-trak B350 / B360”The em-trak B350 and B360 do not output GNSS PGNs over NMEA 2000 by default. You need to enable this manually.
Step 1 — Send the configuration command via proAIS2
Connect your B350/B360 to a computer running the proAIS2 software and send the following command:
$PSMT,0,3,0x2C75B2FA,1,n2kognss -1,0*39Step 2 — Enable RMC output
In proAIS2, tick the RMC checkbox to enable NMEA 0183 RMC sentence output.
Step 3 — Cycle the power
Power the device off and back on for the changes to take effect.
After this, the B350/B360 will share GPS position data over the NMEA 2000 network and Sway Breeze will be able to use it.
For more information, see the em-trak B350/B360 support page.
Easy-TRX3
Section titled “Easy-TRX3”The Easy-TRX3 AIS receiver can report malformed date and time data over NMEA 2000 when running firmware older than version 1.0.18. This can cause Sway Breeze to display incorrect timestamps or no time at all.
Solution: update the Easy-TRX3 firmware to version 1.0.18 or higher. Check the manufacturer’s documentation for instructions on how to update.
If you are running Sway Breeze firmware 1.0.32 or higher, the Breeze will work around this issue automatically, so most things will continue to function even with an older Easy-TRX3 firmware. Updating the Easy-TRX3 is still recommended.
